“Locals Favorite”

Visited with our niece and said we have to eat here. It's her favorite restaurant and within walking distance from her house. The food was fabulous. We're from New Orleans so we know food! We ordered the Rhode Island oysters. The apple cocktail sauce was really different and very good. The seared salmon, roasted chicken and the scallops was our order. Delicious!! Dessert was Death by Chocolate. Amazing! The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. The service was excellent and can't wait to eat again on our next visit. Thanks for a wonderful night. “Fantastic variety of fresh entries and incredible service!”

We took our two teenagers to XO Cafe while on a college visit. Each of our meals was delicious - from the halibut special with smoked tomato sauce to succulent meatloaf to bacon mac and cheese. Our waitress made several suggestions and all of them were spot on. Definitely save room for the chocolate bread pudding with blueberry caramel salty topping. Very special food and great experience for all of us!

Stumbled upon this eatery while viewing Waterfire, a Providence summer staple. We were a starving party of 8 without a reservation on a Saturday night who were treated like kings! The restaurant was very busy, but were able to accommodate our party quickly. Staff was attentive and pleasant. I ordered the evening special: a pan roasted halibut filet accompanied by fresh roasted corn. My husband had barbequed pork loin. Others in our party tried the organic chicken and salmon. All of the meals were fresh and delicious. In fact, my fish dish was probably the best piece of halibut that I have ever eaten. Kudos to the chefs and staff -- we were treated well for such a large party on the fly! Will definitely return!

"Style and Substance"

We ate in the bar, which has a unique and exotic décor, lots of different materials and textures, including a great end wall mural of famous folk [ though I could only recognise Hemmingway]. Despite it being quiet there was a good vibe and some cool sounds playing. Our waitress was very friendly, very efficient and, like the décor, uniquely stylish. The food was superb [I had the halibut, which is every bit as good as other reviewers have said] and so were the cocktails. Tried to go back a second time, unfortunately picked a period it was closed. Next visit for sure.

"Friendly staff that made me feel at home"

I recently went to XO Cafe with a group of 10 for brunch. I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff that made me feel at home. Without going into too much detail, a few of us stayed for the entire day to have drinks and enjoy the company of the best staff I have ever been serviced by. They were both friendly and professional the entire time. I will be referring XO to my entire network and will be bringing in business associates from here on out. The staff and management won me over!

"Best meal we've had in Providence"

Best meal we've had in Providence. Astonishing scallop entre with a refreshing hint of orange, and a really interesting scottish salmon with pistachio ice cream appetizer. Our guest had a tender beef rib that he complimented repeatedly, and my (serendipitous) choice of a particularly yummy merlot capped the meal. Service was solicitous and personable. We'll be back to make sure ;-)

"Perfect place to go after work to unwind and catch up with friends."

Perfect place to go after work to unwind and catch up with friends. We went on a Friday, when bar food is half off. I ordered the Queen B, a mixture of absolut pear, saint germain and lemon zest. Very refreshing and the right amount of kick. One of my friends ordered the Romanza Operetta, which is made with vodka, chambourd, and cranberry juice and garnished with white chocolate grapes... yum!

Now, the bar food is far from average. The truffle fries = best fries I've ever had in my life. You could easily taste (and smell) the truffle oil, which other restaurants attempt to accomplish but hopelessly fail. And the point judith calamari... wow. They had the right amount of crispiness without being overly oily. And the chipotle mayonnaise? Delicious and perfectly balances the dish.

Also, loved the decor, especially the animal print accents on the booths. It's borderline garish, but somehow it all works together and creates a chill vibe.
